Hi, I’m Raza.

Computer science student.
Learning by building.

I’m Syed Muhammad Mehdi Raza, a computer science student at the University of Calgary. I build AI experiments and full-stack applications.

Concept illustration of spatial depth represented as a point cloud

Interactive concept study · Single-image depth and spatial perception

Depth estimation & SLAM

Predicting depth from a single image, with indoor navigation as the destination.

Monocular depth & Visual SLAM

I’m developing a deep learning system in PyTorch to predict depth from single RGB images, targeting robotics perception and indoor navigation.

ML inference benchmarks

Exploring the trade-offs between model latency, throughput, and compute.

Inference benchmarking

I’m building a PyTorch benchmarking pipeline to compare CPU and GPU inference for lightweight machine learning models.

The focus is on measuring execution trade-offs across latency and throughput. Benchmark results are still in development.

Always learning

The best part of building something is figuring out what I don’t know yet.

I’m a student at the University of Calgary, pursuing a BSc in Natural Science with a Computer Science concentration through the Science Co-op program.

My projects are how I connect theory to practice: experimenting with models, measuring performance, and building applications end to end. I’m looking for an internship where I can keep learning alongside experienced engineers.

Beyond the build

Bias and fairness in large language models, with empirical evaluation across demographic attributes and model behavior under real-world constraints.

My working toolkit

Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, JavaScript, Node.js, React, SQL, PostgreSQL, Docker, Git, and Linux.

Let’s talk internships

I’m looking for opportunities in software engineering and AI / ML.
If your team has room for a curious builder, I’d love to talk.
